"This is THE $50,000 PYRAMID! Today's special guests are Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael J. Fox! Your host is TODD NEWTON!"

The 2001 version of The $50,000 Pyramid is an unsold pilot/remake of the 1981 classic game show hosted by Todd Newton, announced by Randy West, produced by Sande Stewart Television and The Gurin Company and it was taped for CBS at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on May 8, 2001.

The main game & bonus rounds are the same game Pyramid had from 1973 to 1981.

  • The pilot was made, until The Gurin Company and Sande Stewart Television was hit by a lawsuit from Columbia TriStar Television in 2001 regarding the format of Pyramid.
  • The pilot was aired on GSN on October 8, 2006.
  • The music, sounds, format, Category Board, clues, and the Winners' Circle are the same ones used on the Pyramid game show from 1973-1981.
  • The format was hated by many Pyramid fans.
