Patry: Smash It! is a 2010 side-scrolling platform game developed by Seymour Games as a reboot of the original Patry arcade game and published by Drillimation Studios and Bandai Namco Entertainment. Unlike the regular arcade game, there are more levels, implementation of motion controls, and better graphics. The game was released on the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii in 2010, followed by a home computer release in 2013. An Xbox 360 version was planned, but was cancelled due to difficulties with reliability with the Kinect accessory.

GameplayEdit

The gameplay is essentially the same as the arcade game, but the main gimmick, besides the main goal, is to retrieve as much treasure as possible. Players move Patry using the control stick and shake the Wii Remote or PlayStation Move to retrieve treasure upon encountering it. Every level is timed, and a certain percentage of treasure must be retrieved within the time limit, and players can extend the time using time clocks hidden throughout the levels.

DevelopmentEdit

El TV Kadsre Animation assisted with all the character animations as well as the intro and ending cutscenes.

ReceptionEdit

The game was met with mostly mixed to positive reviews. The game holds a 78% for the Wii version and a 72% for the PS3 version on Metacritic. The PC version received mixed reviews and holds a 63% on Metacritic. Critics praised the art style but criticized the game's motion controls, calling it "repetitive and tedious."
