Mou'Xhan (Hanzi=: 莫单; YinYangiese: Mòugyān; Mandarin: Mòdān) (Japanese: モジャン Mojan) is the capital and the most populos city of the YinYangian state of Hapien. With a population of 618,102 as of 2020, it is the sixth most populous city in YinYangia, and is the center of the Mougyan metropolitan area, which also includes the twin city of Krazan.
Mou'Xhan was established approximately seven kilometers from the Kawere River by the Garukans in 20 AD. It became the capital of the Garukan Empire in 52 AD. Its original name was unknown, but it was believed to be Xṭ'isiḓaqút, which believed to mean 'center of all powers'. In 1300, after the sinicization of the Garukans, the city was renamed to Nudusi (能的心), which was the old YinYangiese translation of the name.
Mou'Xhan is located near the Kawere River on a plain. It is often nicknamed as the "Heart of the Kawere", despite not being in the river. It is the center of Hapien and accounts up to 4% of the state's economy. Most of the people in the city are Garukan-descendant Han, with a small number of actual Garukans.
Etymology[]
The city was named after the YinYangian philosopher Dayn Mougyan. It is spelled as 'xh' rather than 'gy', as it was the former way of romanizing the /d͡ʑ/ sound. In 1981, the city changed its name to Muzan, the Tottomified name, but was reverted back in 1999. The city is still called Xṭ'isiḓaqút by the Garukans.
History[]
According to Garukan legend, it was God himself that created the world and the city itself. It was settled circa 10-20 AD in the Tokuru Plains. Historians believe that Xṭ'isiḓaqút was the name of the ancient city. The Garukan Empire declared it the capital of the empire. It was defended fiercely by iron walls and cannons. Only the elites were allowed to enter the city and peasants were given an offshoot town.
The Esemaric and Garukan empires unified in 129 AD and the Eso-Garukan Confederation was established. Xṭ'isiḓaqút was the center of the empire. The city later welcomed more peasants to help with the city's economy. It was the most developed and the richest city in the Gawudzan Island until its Sinicization in the early 1300s.
The Nudusi dynasty was established in the city. It coexisted with the Tebaihai dynasty until relations soured in the early 1450s after a dispute that all of the Kawere River should belong to either of the two dynasties. The northwestern coast of the island was also discovered in 1563 AD. The city of Nudusi was set as the capital of the Qing colony of the Gawudzan Island in 1641. Many Garukan buildings were demolished and were replaced with Han Chinese ones. Garukan architecture still exists in the city.
After the establishment of the Gawudzan Republic in 1799, the city was renamed from Nudusi to loosely transliterated Hwotishidaku, until being reverted to Nudusi in 1801. More peasants arrived in the city and the economy of Nudusi was skyrocketed. It became one of the richest cities in the Gawudzan Republic. The city was renamed to Mou'Xhan in 1878 after the philosopher Dayn Mougyan, after he created the ideology of Daynism, which encourages the diversity of the island to continue as long as possible.
Mou'Xhan was included in the proposed Western state in 1890, but was transferred to the Kawere state in 1894, after several revisions of state borders. It officially became the capital of the Kawere state in 1904, due to its heavily developed economy and extreme industrialization. It was the most populous city in the country until being surpassed by Muliuden in 1910.
In 1937, the recently created Toralaq Republic shifted the capital of the Kawere Toralaq State to Tebaihai, and remained even after the merger of the Kawere and Ongsin states. The city was renamed to Muzan, but after the dissolution of the Toralaq Republic in 1999, the name was reverted. The newly created Hapien's capital was set in the city.
