Here We Go is a charity single by Kuboian television personality Ericka Streets written by herself, Henry Buckings and MC Granny. Released on 2nd October, 2005, the song features three rap verses from Kuboian rapper Kool Teazer (or two from MC Granny in the international version). Here We Go heavily samples Black Lace's recording of the popular folk song "I Am The Music Man", and as such. it also samples the patriotic song "Scotland the Brave" and the theme tune for the BBC programme Match of the Day.

In December 2005, Streets launched a campaign to get the song to Christmas number-one in 2005. This not occur, however, and it only reached number 3. Despite this, the song received progressively more popularity over time, and eventually topped the charts in Kuboia in March 2006.

As of July 2018, the song has sold over 2,000,000 copies worldwide and has been certified Platinum by the KSR.

Background

Streets worked with Buckings, MC Granny and DJ Kubin to produce and write the song in August 2005. The song took a month to finalise. Originally, MC Granny was going to be the featured artist on the song instead of Kool Teazer, however, after discovering about Kool Teazer, MC Granny met up with him, introduced him to the group, and told him to be the featured rapper instead.

The song’s structure is slightly based upon its sample, "I Am The Music Man" - the pre-chorus interpolates the Match of the Day theme tune sample, whilst the middle-eight interpolates the Dam Buster theme tune. The chorus interpolates the trombone and piano verses.

International version

In March 2006, following the song’s success in Kuboia, Streets decided that she wanted to promote the song internationally. Kool Teazer, however, said he "wasn’t ready to be an international sellout", so MC Granny agreed to be on the international version instead. In this version, MC Granny raps two verses, one of which is an early version of one of Kool Teazer’s verses on the original song.

Although the international version features MC Granny instead of Kool Teazer, the Kool Teazer version is still included on the international CD, as is a solo version with only Streets on it.
